Wilson Captures Third-Place Result During Debut at Dothan Motor Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – COTTONWOOD, Ala. (Feb. 26, 2020) – Greg Wilson earned his first podium finish of the season last Saturday during his debut at Dothan Motor Speedway.

Wilson and his Hercules Tires, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics and Gear Off Road backed team tackled a USCS Series event at the Alabama oval, where he kicked off the night by maneuvering from fourth to second place in a heat race.

“It was a lot of fun,” he said. “That was the first time I’d ran the 360 sprint car in about half a year so we were pretty happy. We worked on that program and it seems like everything went really well.”

The feature inversion lined Wilson up on the outside of the front row for the main event. The preferred lane was on the bottom, giving the inside row an advantage at the start of the race.

“The only part of the night that was tough was the fact that you really didn’t want to be on the outside on the initial start,” he said. “Once you got racing you could move around, but on the start the bottom was the way to go. We fell into third behind two really good drivers. That was one of the most fun races I’ve been a part of in a long time.”

Wilson closed in on the top two in traffic midway through the race, but a caution presented a clean track for the remainder of the race. Wilson held on for a third-place result.

“I felt like if it stayed green we had a shot,” he said. “It was a lot of fun to run with Mark Smith and Terry McCarl. It had to be great for the fans. It was getting really exciting. After those few cautions we didn’t get back into traffic. It was nice to have a good, solid night from start to finish this early in the year.”

Wilson returns to USCS Series competition this weekend with races on Friday at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, Miss., and Saturday at Southern Raceway in Milton, Fla.

The team has Hercules Tires dealership visits this Thursday at Coastal Tire & Auto in Long Beach, Miss., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday at Tire Trax in Hattiesburg, Miss., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
