FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
May 18, 2004
FAYETTEVILLE, GA - Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN leads a tight group of challengers for the 2004 United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Dirt Championship. Just 56 points separate his closest competition, second-place Danny Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL and third-place Brice Wrenn of Lexington, SC.
The next two races for the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour will be in Gray's home state. The series visits Garnertown Speedway in Luray, TN on May 29, and then travels to Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, TN for a "Salute To The Armed Forces" night on May 30.
Gray, the defending and three-time USCS National Champion, leads Martin by 34 points after the first seven USCS Outlaw Thunder dirt events. Gray has two wins with five top five finishes. Gray took the win last time out for the USCS Outlaw Thunder Division last Saturday night Lancaster Motor Speedway in Lancaster, SC.
Martin has also competed in all seven USCS Outlaw Thunder dirt events this season with three top fives, and five top ten finishes. The 18-year-old member of the Florida "Fountain of Youth Gang" finished a close second to Gray in Lancaster, SC last Saturday night. Martin will spend his "off" weekend graduating from high school before heading to the Volunteer State.
Wrenn is 22 points behind Martin in the third spot, and leads the group known as the "Carolina Cruisers" in USCS competition. Wrenn has two top fives, and five top tens in seven USCS Outlaw Thunder starts this season.
Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL dropped to fourth in the Outlaw Thunder points chase, as his team took last Saturday night off so they could attend the high school graduation of his stepson and crew chief, Bryn Gohn. Adams has three USCS Outlaw Thunder wins and four top finishes in six starts.
R.J. Johnson of Wesley Chapel, FL is in the fifth spot in USCS Outlaw Thunder points, and is also the leading Rookie of the Year Candidate. The 16-year-old Florida "Fountain of Youth Gang" member has top ten finish in seven Outlaw Thunder starts.

"Flyin' Brian" Thomas of Auburn, GA leads the "Peach State Posse" by climbing to eighth in the USCS Outlaw Thunder point standings after coming from 18th to fifth Saturday night in Lancaster, SC. Thomas has two top fives and four top tens in five starts.
Early season success has Curt Michael of Ocean View, MD still in the top ten in USCS Outlaw Thunder points. Michael has two top fives after running the first four events of the season to ride in the ninth spot on the points list.
"Carolina Cruiser" Butch Pendergrass of Winston-Salem, NC posted his best finish of the season last Saturday night in Lancaster, SC with a third-place showing for his second top ten finish in four starts. That vaulted him up to the tenth spot in the USCS Outlaw Thunder point standings.
