FAYETTEVILLE, GA - Danny Martin of Sarasota, FL leads the O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series SpeedMart Young Gun point standings after the first 34 events of the 2005 season. The SpeedMart Young Guns are O'Reilly USCS drivers under the age of 25.
Martin, known as "The Hammer," is second in the O'Reilly USCS National point standings with two wins this season. The 19-year-old driver has turned in 4,525 points. Four other SpeedMart Young Guns join Martin in the top ten of the O'Reilly USCS National point standings, including three of the top five.
Bryn Gohn of Malabar, FL is second in the SpeedMart Young Gun points, and is fourth in the O'Reilly USCS National points chase with 4,311 points. The 19-year-old driver posted his first-ever series career win at Fayetteville Motor Speedway in Fayetteville, NC on July 16.
Sixteen-year-old Matt Tiffany of Daytona Beach, FL is third in the SpeedMart Young Gun points and fifth overall on the O'Reilly USCS National point standings with 4,043 points. The 2004 O'Reilly USCS Rookie of the Year, 18-year-old R.J. Johnson of Decatur, TN, is fourth in the SpeedMart Young Gun points chase and sixth overall in the national points with 3,946.
Eighteen-year-old Ryan Myers of Eldorado, OH is fifth in the SpeedMart Young Gun points and eighth overall on the national list with 2,690 points. Following Myers in the top ten of the SpeedMart Young Gun points are 17-year-old Ricky Stenhouse Jr. of Olive Branch, MS, 15-year-old Hunter Schuerenberg of Sikeston, MO, 21-year-old Michael Miller of Tallapoosa, GA, and 16-year-old Kevin Swindell of Bartlett, TN.
Stenhouse leads the O'Reilly USCS Mid-South Tour point standings with three wins on the season. Swindell, a third-generation driver, has four wins this season on the O'Reilly USCS Asphalt Thunder Tour.
