ADAMS WINS THIRD IN A ROW IN O'REILLY USCS GARNERTOWN GO

August 21, 2005
LURAY, TN -
Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL had two celebrations going at once Saturday night at Garnertown Speedway as he turned in his third win in a row in the 30-lap feature race for the O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series.  The victory celebration was also a birthday party, 30 minutes early, as Adams turns 46 on Sunday.

The O'Reilly USCS National points leader made the winning pass on Ricky Stenhouse Jr. of Olive Branch, MS by throwing a slider in turn three on lap nine.  Adams then pulled away in the Milk Movers, Inc./Goodson Farms Shaw Ott to win the 87th O'Reilly USCS win of his career, and the 12th of the season.

Adams also won the ButlerBuilt second 10-lap heat race, and the Outlaw Racing Disc Brakes Fast Brake of the Race Award for leading on lap ten. After starting seventh, Adams was awarded the Huggins Cams Hard Charger of the Race Award.

Stenhouse, who was the K&N Filters Pole Award winner, led the first eight laps, and finished second in the Fast Effects J&J/Dynotech. The 17-year-old driver was also the SpeedMart Young Gun of the Race for drivers under the age of 25.

Another SpeedMart Young Gun, 19-year-old Danny Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL finished third in the Martin Structures, Inc./Food Grade Transport Schnee/ZRE.  The defending and four-time O'Reilly USCS National Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN took the fourth spot in the C&B Mushrooms/Wendy's Maxim/Wesmar.

Mike McElya of Bartlett, TN was fifth in the Pyles Paving J&J/Sikes.  Bryn Gohn of Malabar, FL was the Robison Racing Products Rookie of the Race with a sixth-place finish in the Milk Movers, Inc./Goodson Farms Shaw/Ott.  Gohn also won the Engler Machine and Tool first ten-lap heat race.

Wesley Hale of Memphis, TN finished seventh in the Hale's Forklift Avenger/Dynotech, and Ray Bugg of Iuka, MS brought the Bugg Motorsports J&J/Bugg home in the eighth spot.  Tony Wilson came back from a late-race spin to finish ninth in the Wilson Racing J&J/Dynotech, and Matt Tiffany also came back from a spin to round out the top ten in the Independent Printing Shaw/Ott.

Stenhouse took the lead at the drop of the green flag followed by Wilson, McElya, Gray, and Adams.  Tiffany brought out the first of four caution flags on lap five with a turn four spin.  On the restart, Adams got busy, getting around Gray and McElya on laps five and six, and then passed Wilson for second on the lap seven, before setting up Stenhouse going into turn three on lap nine.

Adams dove to the inside of the rim riding Stenhouse, and then slid up in front of him coming off the fourth turn to take the lead he would never relinquish.  Martin followed Adams through the pack, and while Adams pulled out to a full straightaway lead, Martin battled with Stenhouse for the second spot throughout the race.

Dewayne Prince of Atoka, TN stalled the Ellison, Inc. Prince/Prince at the head of the front straightaway on lap 17, and Wilson spun in turn four on lap 21 for the second and third caution flags respectively.  Marshall Skinner of West Memphis, AR was running in the top ten when he lost a wheel on his Parts Plus Maxim/Ott coming off the fourth turn on lap 29.

As the final caution flag was coming out, R.J. Johnson of Decatur, TN spun the Tinsley Engineering/Georgia Performance Graphics J&J/ZRE in turn four. Adams led the field down for a green-white-checkered finish.

The wildest ride of the night occurred in the first heat when the six-lap Air Flow Research Power Dash winner Mike Ward of Memphis, TN got over the edge of the top side of track going into turn three, and spun off the track before flipping his AMC Maxim/McCarver.  Ward made repairs to his car for the feature, but had to start 17th.

Ward was coming up through the field, passing cars early and often.  Ward advanced to the tenth spot by the fifth lap, but cut down a tire, forcing him to the pits and out of contention.  Ward earned the Weld Racing Hard Luck Award.

The O'Reilly USCS will now travel to Laurens Speedway in Laurens, SC for an event on August 27 that will award points in both the National Outlaw Thunder Tour, and the Carolina Thunder Tour.
