BARBERVILLE, FL - Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL finally got the big
victory that had alluded him over the past six seasons when he won the O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series Air Flow Research Super Power Dash on Saturday night at Volusia Speedway Park. Adams led all ten laps of the race in the Milk Movers, Inc./Goodson Farms Shaw/Ott for a $5,000 payday in cash and prizes.
"This win really means a lot to me and our team," Adams said. "We've been in a position to win this race many times through the years, but bad luck has always seemed to keep us from winning it. Our team really started clicking at the midway point of the season and now it seems we're really on a roll."
One of the prizes Adams took home for winning the Air Flow Research Super Power Dash was the beautiful Eagle Trophy from Koolbeans Trophies and Awards.
"I've had the pleasure of hoisting a lot of trophies over my head through the years, but that's got to be one of the heaviest," Adams said. "When you have to strain to get it over your head, you know it's got to be special."
Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN was looking for his fourth Eagle Trophy, and his third straight. The defending and four-time O'Reilly USCS National Champion chased Adams for all ten laps, but had to settle for second in the C&B Mushrooms/Goodson Farms Maxim/Wesmar. Danny Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL finished third in the Martin Structures, Inc./Food Grade Transport Schnee/ZRE.
Johnny Bridges of Cherryville, NC started seventh and finished fourth in the C&B Mushrooms/Stainless Fabricators J&J/Bridges Ford. Brian Maddox of Brandon, FL charged from the tenth starting spot to bring his Concrete Science/Crawford Tire Shaw/Central Florida Machine entry home in the fifth position.
Bruce Cline of Apex, NC took the sixth spot in the 31-W Insulation Stealth/Engler, and Bryn Gohn of Malabar, FL was seventh in the Milk Movers, Inc./Goodson Farms Shaw/Ott. Matt Tiffany of Daytona Beach, FL finished eighth in the Independent Printing Shaw/Ott, followed by Chad Allum of Kannapolis, NC in ninth driving the ButlerBuilt Prowler/Chrisco, and R.J. Johnson of Decatur, TN rounding out the top ten in the Tinsley Engineering/Georgia Performance Graphics J&J/ZRE.
The ten drivers earned the right to compete in the Air Flow Research Super Power Dash by finishing in the top ten of the Air Flow Research Power Dash points. At each O'Reilly USCS event the top six finishers from the previous event would compete for points in the Air Flow Research Power Dash.
