Stenhouse leads O'Reilly USCS Qualifying Round at Columbus Friday night
Columbus, MS - Eighteen year-old Ricky Stenhouse from Olive Branch, Mississippi gathered the most points from time trial qualifying and heat race finishes in Friday night's O'Reilly Pole Night activities at Columbus Speedway. Stenhouse set second quick time and won the Butlerbuilt Heat Two to garner 99 qualifying points for tonight's 1st Annual Battle at the Bullring at the track known as the "Baddest Bullring in the South".
O'Reilly Mid-South points leader, Mike Ward from Memphis, Tennessee set a blistering 11.99 second and new all time track record around the tacky 1/3 mile red clay oval. Ward follows Stenhouse with 98 points. Danny Martin, Jr. from Sarasota, Florida who won the FSR Third Heat also has 98 points but Ward's CnB Mushrooms fast time lap was the tie-breaker. Jason Sides from Bartlett, Tennessee is fourth in Q points with 96 and four time O'Reilly USCS National Champion, Terry Gray also from Bartlett, TN is fifth with 94 points.
Lee Sowell from Nesbit, Mississippi tallied 93 Q points for sixth and Ryan Myers from Eaton, Ohio was seventh after the night's action with 91 points. Wade Oliver qualified eighth after also garnering 91 points for the night. Those eight drivers are locked in to the first eight positions in tonight's 40 lap O'Reilly USCS Battle at the Bullring season finale. The starting order for those eight drivers will be determined by the Draw for the K&N pole award which will invert 0, 4, 6 or 8 positions. All other drivers will start in one of the two scheduled B-Mains and race for there final Battle at the Bullring starting position.
Prior to all of that at 6:30 pm sharp will be the 10 car/10 lap Lucas Oil Super Power Dash Shootout.
The all out race pays $5000 to the winner.
