O'Reilly USCS sprint car champion Terry Gray will throw first 2006 pitch for West Tenn. Diamond Jaxx

Four time O'Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series National champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee will throw the first pitch of the 2006 season from the mound at Pringles Park for the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx during their home game season-opener on Monday night April 17 th at 7:05 p.m.  The honor of tossing the first pitch of a baseball season is one that is generally reserved for a select few celebrities like President of the United States and others who have made their mark in life when a brand new baseball season begins. Gray who races winged outlaw style sprint cars for a living is thrilled to have this honor and said. “I don't really know how this is going to go it's been a while since I have thrown a baseball and I guess I need to be practicing everyday. I'm sure I'll also be a little nervous, but I'll just try to do my best and really enjoy the moment.”

The Diamond Jaxx who posted the Double-A Southern League's best regular season record in 2005, hope Gray will bring some of his championship magic to them in the home field season-opener. Gray has won over 350 winged outlaw sprint car races and has been declared a National winged sprint car touring series champion eleven times. He currently leads the O'Reilly Auto Parts sponsored United Sprint Car Series National point standings. He hopes to capture his fifth National championship in six seasons with the O'Reilly USCS which has over sixty races scheduled in eleven states this season on both dirt and paved oval tracks.

Gray will be busy next weekend attempting to increase his O'Reilly USCS points lead against a stellar field of winged outlaw sprint car drivers from at least seven states on Friday, April 14 th and Saturday, April 15 th at Garnertown Speedway near Jackson, Tennessee during the Hooker Hood Sprint Car Shootout. The race is event that features two full days of O'Reilly USCS sprint car action honoring Mid-South open wheel legend Clarence “Hooker” Hood from Memphis.

Garner town Speedway and the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx have combined for a double-play ticketing promotional partnership that will admit race fans who attend the Hooker Hood Sprint Car Shootout at Garnertown Speedway next weekend to be admitted FREE to the Diamond Jaxx home game season-opener against the Mississippi Braves on Monday night, April 17 th .
