Adams wins rain-shortened O'Reilly USCS Speedweek Round 5 at East Alabama Motorspeedway

June 1, 2006 Phenix City, AL - Kenny Adams from Malabar, Florida became the fifth different O'Reilly USCS Speedweek 2006 feature winner in as many races by winning the rain-shortened 35-lap O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series Round Five A-main event on Thursday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama. Adams started on the pole in a race run under the O'Reilly USCS time-trial format and raced ahead of the field for twenty-seven laps before the rains that had been occurring all evening in the area finally arrived at the track just long enough to spoil the evenings final event. The race was stopped eight laps short on lap twenty-seven, but, it did not spoil Adams' evening as he set an O'Reilly USCS track record of 13.55 seconds around the high-banked 4/10 mile clay oval and lead every lap of the main event to collect a $2000 paycheck and move into the points lead for the O'Reilly USCS Speedweek 2006 title.

Wright who started eighth was in fourth on lap four and chased Gray until lap thirteen before going high on the track to move into the third position on that lap and was challenging Ward for the runner-up spot when the moisture came. 2005 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame "Wild Card" Driver of the Year, Danny Martin, Jr. from Sarasota, Florida started seventh and finished in fourth place.

Lucas Oil Power Dash points leader, Terry Gray won his fifth Lucas Oil Power Dash six lap shootout of the season. Adams via his fast time collected the K&N Filters Pole Award. Danny Martin, Jr. was recognized as the Hoosier Tire Young Gun of the Race, which is awarded to the top-finishing driver under twenty-five years old. The Weld Racing Hard Luck award went to Jerrod Hull who had to change an engine after the Lucas Oil Power Dash only to have motor heating problems in the main event.
