Stenhouse battles to O'Reilly USCS win at Crossville Raceway USA
June 9, 2006 Crossville, TN - Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. from Olive Branch, MS won the 30-lap O'Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series www.uscsracing.com Mid-South Thunder Tour feature race Friday night at Crossville's Raceway USA in Crossville, Tennessee. It was Stenhouse's third O'Reilly USCS win of the season in eight starts. The talented eighteen year-old who started sixth in the A-Main battled O'Reilly USCS Speedweek 2006 Champion, Mike Ward from Memphis, Tennessee side-by-side around the high-banked one-third mile oval
for the last ten laps before winning by a car length at the finish line. T.J. Winegardner, Jr. from Pierson, Florida chased the two dynamic duelers home in third place for his highest O'Reilly USCS Outlaw Thunder career finish ever.

Current O'Reilly USCS National points leader, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee finished in the fourth position after running behind Ward in the second position through the races mid-point when Stenhouse, who was the 2003 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame 360 sprint car Rookie of the Year, came by using the high side of the race track to his advantage. Gray went to the high groove behind the teenager and seemed to have made the right decision in both drivers pursuit of Ward's #88 car who was running two grooves lower down on the track's perfectly manicured surface. Then Winegardner, Jr. went low and employed Ward's line to get past Gray on lap seventeen. O'Reilly USCS Speedweek 2006 Round One winner, Jerrod Hull from Sikeston, Missouri who won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat followed in fifth position.
Hoosier tire young Guns points leader, Danny Martin, Jr. from Sarasota, Florida lead the second five drivers in sixth place. Followed by O'Reilly USCS Rookie of the Year candidate, fifteen year-old Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas who was seventh. Another Hoosier Tire young Gun, Matt Tiffany from Daytona Beach, Florida was eighth, veteran Mike McElya from Bartlett, Tennessee was ninth and T.J. Winegardner's team-mate Tom Winegardner, Sr. from Pierson, Florida rounded out the top ten. The race had only one caution period on lap twenty-two when Marshall Sinner slowed to a stop in turn two.
Mike Ward won the Lucas Oil Power Dash. Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. won the Engler Tool and Machine First Heat Race. Jerrod Hull won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat Race. Rookie Derek Hagar garnered the events Huggins Cams Hard Charger award for his charge from thirteenth to seventh place. Hagar was also the Robison Racing Products Rookie of the Race. Terry Gray snagged the K&N Filters Pole Award after Stenhouse drew a six in the inversion draw. Stenhouse was also recognized as the Hoosier Tire Young Gun of the Race, which is awarded to the top-finishing driver under twenty-five years old. The Weld Racing Hard Luck award went to Shane Nelson who suffered severe damage to his number 88z in the Butlerbuilt First Heat.
.
