Gray tops of the O'Reilly USCS National standings after 23 events.
Atlanta, GA - Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee leads the 10th Anniversary O'Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour national point standings after twenty-three National events. Gray is also the points leader in the all pavement O'Reilly USCS Asphalt Thunder series and the O'Reilly USCS Dirt Cup all dirt track standings. The veteran driver who has won three times in 2006 O'Reilly USCS competition and is a four time national champion in the series has also tallied the most points in the Southern Thunder and Carolina Thunder regional series. He is in second place in the tough O'Reilly Mid-South Thunder regional point standings. Gray has tallied 2876 National points and leads his next closest competitor Danny Martin, Jr. by just 88 points in the tight battle for the title.
Twenty-year old Hoosier Tire Young Gun points leader, Danny Martin, Jr. from Sarasota, Florida who was the runner-up for the National crown in the series for the past two seasons is in second place with 2788 points, just 88 points out of first place. Martin also has two 2006 feature wins to his credit. He leads the Hoosier tire young Guns points chase for driver under twenty-five years old. In third place in the standings with 2660 points and one feature win that came last Saturday night (June 17th) at Southern National Raceway Park is seventeen year-old Matt Tiffany from Daytona Beach, Florida. Tiffany is just 128 points behind Martin for trhe runner-up spot.
Another Hoosier Tire Young Gun, 21 year old, Tom "TJ" Winegardner, Jr. from Pierson, Florida is fourth in the National standings with 2588 points. His teammate and Father Tom Winegardner, Sr. also from Pierson, Florida moved into the top five in the National standings after this past weekend's action with 2428 National points.
Defending National champion, Kenny Adams from Malabar, Florida is in the sixth spot with 2300 points after grabbing three feature wins. Adams has missed four events due to other commitments. 2005 O'Reilly USCS Rookie of the Year, twenty year-old Bryn Gohn from Malabar, Florida is seventh in the point standings with 2064 points. Gohn missed last weekend's action to participate in the USAC New Generation Silver Crown Series. Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas who trails Gray by just 38 points in the all dirt track O'Reilly USCS Dirt Cup standings is in eighth place with 1962 points.
Via a string of solid finishes recently, the O'Reilly USCS Speedweek 2006 Champion Mike Ward from Memphis, Tennessee ranks ninth in the National point standings with 1444 points. Nineteen year-old Stephen Darvalics from Venice, Florida rounds out the top ten in trhe National rankings after a solid performance in two pavement events at Florence Motor Speedway and Southern National Raceway Park this past weekend.
The O'Reilly USCS is back in action on dirt at Malden Speedway in Malden Missouri this Friday night June 23rd. The event will award O'Reilly USCS Mid-South Thunder regional points only.
