Gray continues Huntsville Speedway O'Reilly USCS win streak



Sept. 1, 2006 Huntsville, AL - Current O'Reilly Auto Parts / United Sprint Car Series www.uscsracing.com National points leader, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee lead every lap of the O'Reilly USCS Asphalt Thunder Tour 40 lap feature to make it two in a row at the legendary quarter mile paved oval. Gray who already holds the all time track record, also set fast time of 11.663. This was the four time series champion's fourth feature win of the season tying Mike Ward from Memphis, Tennessee for the most wins on the 2006 and 10th Anniversary season for the O'Reilly USCS.

When Engler Tool and Machine First Heat winner Danny Martin, Jr. from Sarasota, Florida drew a zero inversion it awarded Gray the K&N Pole Award and placed him on the pole of the main event next to the evenings second fastest qualifier Tom "T.J." Winegardner from Pierson, Florida. When the green flag flew the pair executed a perfect start and Gray raced into the lead in turn one. Tom Winegardner, Jr. chased him for the first eighteen laps until Danny Martin, Jr. slipped by Winegardner into second place with a pass in lapped traffic in turn four. A caution flag on lap nineteen pulled the field in behind Gray with one lapped car separating the leader from Martin. On the restart, Gray pulled away to a straightaway lead over the field during the final twenty-one caution free laps.

At the finish line it was Hoosier Tire Young Guns points leader Danny Martin, Jr in the runner-up spot followed by Tom"T.J." Winegardner, Jr. in a career-best third place asphalt finish. The finishing order was then a pair of Ohio travelers, Doug Berryman from Mansfield , Ohio in fourth place and Ryan Myers from Eaton, Ohio, who was tied with Martin for the runner-up spot in the O'Reilly USCS Asphalt Thunder point standings coming intot he event rounding out the top five.

Aubrey Black from Lookout Mountain, Georgia headed the next group in sixth place . Tom Winegardner from Pierson, Florida was seventh. Skeeter Faulconer from Lutz, Florida followed in te eighth spot with Danny Statter from Deltona, Florida in ninth. Open Wheel Modified star Jeff Letson from Huntsville, Alabama finished tenth in his initial winged outlaw sprint car start.

Tom "T.J." Winegardner, Jr., started off the evening by winning the Lucas Oil Power Dash.. Danny Martin, Jr. was the winner in the Engler Tool and Machine First Heat. Doug Berryman from Mansfield, Ohio, captured the Butlerbuilt Second Heat. Danny Martin also garnered the events Huggins Cams Hard Charger award

T.J. Winegardner received the evenings JE Pistons Top Guns Award for his third place finish. Jeff Letson was declared the Robison Racing Products Rookie of the Race. Gray grabbed the K&N Filters Pole Award. Tom Winegardner, Jr. also garnered K&N Filters 3rd place feature finisher award. Martin was recognized as the Hoosier Tire Young Gun of the Race, which is awarded to the top-finishing driver under twenty-five years old.
