Martin collects fifth 2006 O'Reilly USCS win at Riverside Speedway



September 8, 2006 Rome, GA - O'Reilly USCS Hoosier Tire Young Gun points leader, Danny Martin, Jr. from Sarasota, Florida captured Friday night's 30-lap O'Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series www.uscsracing.com Outlaw Thunder Tour feature race at Riverside Speedway in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Martin bested a field comprised of drivers from nine states in the thirty-sixth event of the series 10th Anniversary Season. It was the twenty-year old drivers fifth O'Reilly USCS feature win of the 2006 season and his second win in a row after winning last Sunday night's race at Garnertown Speedway in Jackson, TN.

Martin who is in second place in the series National point standings and leads the Hoosier Tire young Guns point standings for drivers under twenty-five years-old started in the fourth position in the race after drawing a four in the K&N Filters Pole Award draw. He then chased four-time O'Reilly USCS National Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee who started on the pole for seventeen laps before charging around Gray in lapped traffic. Martin then had to held off Gray, 1999 O'Reilly USCS Champion, Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas and defending series Champion, Kenny Adams from Malabar, Florida who applied plenty of pressure for the last thirteen laps as the four raced through lapped traffic together in the lead pack.

A caution flew on the final lap when Brandon McLain from Indian Trails, North Carolina spun exiting turn four setting up a green/white checkered re-start. Martin had a lapped car between he and the veteran Gray and held on for the win. Gray followed the twenty-year old across the line with Kenny Adams charging past Skinner into the third, Skinner finished in fourth and second generation sprint car driver Matt Linder from Hoschton, Georgia rounded out the top five with another great run

2003 AOAS/USCS Champion Johnny Bridges from Cherryville, North Carolina lead the next group by finishing sixth. The evening's Lucas Oil Power Dash winner, twenty-0ne year-old TJ Winegardner from Pierson, Florida followed in seventh. Nineteen year-old 2004 O'Reilly USCS Rookie of the Year, R.J. Johnson was eighth, nineteen year-old Ryan Myers from Eaton, Ohio was ninth. The evenings Huggins Cams Hard Charger, Brandon McLain from Indian Trails, North Carolina rounded out the top ten.

TJ Winegardner started off the night's racing action by winning his third six-lap Lucas Oil Power Dash in a row.

Danny Martin, Jr. then won the 10- lap Engler Tool and Machine First Heat Race Matt Linder from hoschton, Georgia won the 10-lap Butlerbuilt Second Heat Race. Terry Gray the recipient of the K&N Filters Pole Award. Brandon Mc Lain garnered the events Huggins Cams Hard Charger award for his charge from last to tenth.

Danny Martin, Jr. was again recognized as the Hoosier Tire Young Gun of the Race, which is awarded to the top-finishing driver under twenty-five years old. The Weld Racing Hard Luck award went to 2005 O'Reilly USCS Rookie of the Year, Bryn Gohn from Malabar, Florida who was the first car out of the A-Main event. .

The next O'Reilly USCS www.uscsracing.com National points event is this Saturday September 9th as the O'Reilly USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour invades Dixe Speedway www.dixiespeedway.com in Woodstock, Georgia.
