Martin who qualified fourth fastest was advanced to the pole position when Engler Tool and Machine First Heat winner, Terry Witherspoon from Jacksonville, Florida drew a four in the K&N Filters Pole Award drawing placing Martin in the prime location. But when the green flag flew, 1999 O'Reilly USCS Dirt Cup Champion Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas who started outside the front row raced around Martin into the lead coming off turn two on lap one of the 20-lap contest.
Skinner lead the first circuits around the high speed oval and at times pulled away to an eight to ten car length lead until Martin caught him in a major lapped traffic situation on lap eight and made a move through the slower cars that left Skinner trapped momentarily while Martin raced away into the lead he would not relinquish. The field bunched up behind Martin on lap fifteen after a caution flag for Tom Winegarner's injured mount that made contact with Brian Maddox's car on the front stretch. The fast qualifiers night was ended but Maddox continued on.
There was one lapped car between Martin and the challenging Skinner. Then lined up right behind Skinner was seventeen year-old Matt Tiffany Daytona Beach, Florida in third place. The stage was set for the five-lap dash to the checkers, but, Martin pulled away on the re-start and streaked home with the win. Skinner was just out off reach in the runner-up spot, followed at the finish line by the teenage hot-shoe Tiffany in third and current O'Reilly USCS National points leader, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee in fourth. Another talented teenager, nineteen year-old Stephen Darvalics from Venice, Florida rounded out the top five.
Veteran O'Reilly USCS driver Brian Thomas from Auburn, Georgia driving a car wrenched by veteran O'Reilly USCS racer Randy Helton, headed the next five in sixth. Brian Maddox from Brandon, Florida, rallied from a sixteenth place start to finish seventh. Another veteran sprint car racer Gene Lasker from Tampa, Florida who started seventeenth worked his way through the field into an eighth place finish. John Koller from Eustis, Florida followed in ninth place and nineteen year-old, 2004 O'Reilly USCS Rookie of the Year, R.J. Johnson from Decatur, Tennessee rounded out the top ten.
Brian Maddox garnered the events Huggins Cams Hard Charger award for his charge from sixteenth to seventh place. Laskers run also yielded nine positions passed but Maddox had the higher finish to receive the award. Danny Martin also received the evenings JE Pistons Top Guns Award for his win. Bryan Eckley was declared the Robison Racing Products Rookie of the Race. Martin also grabbed the K&N Filters Pole Award. Tiffany garnered K&N Filters 3rd place feature finisher award. Martin was again recognized as the Hoosier Tire Young Gun of the Race, which is awarded to the top-finishing driver under twenty-five years old. The Weld Racing Hard Luck award went to Jerry Jones from Clermont, Florida who was unable to start the A-main after a rear-end failure.
