USCS places five drivers in National Sprint Car Hall of Fame “360 Sprint Car Drive of the Year” 2020 poll

Atlanta, Georgia – January 17, 2021 – As a strong witness to the rising level of competition in the Georgia based United Sprint Car Series and most recently during its 2020 and 24th anniversary season, The USCS had five drivers recognized in the top twenty of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame 2020 “Driver of the Year” annual poll recently released by the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame during the 35 annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Mark Smith from Sunbury, Pennsylvania, who was the series and the Nation’s wins leader with fourteen USCS victories and twenty wins overall in 360 sprint car competition, was the highest ranked USCS driver in the standings with a runner-up finish in the NSCHoF 2020 standings according to the thirteen pollsters who voted in the poll.

The 2020 and 13-time USCS National Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee was one of the other four drivers who competed with the series that finished in the top ten of the standings. Although not having his best season and going winless in 2020, Gray’s perfect attendance coupled with just enough strong finishes squeezed out enough points to capture the title by a small margin over phenomenal USCS Rookie of the Year driver and USCS Southern Thunder Tour regional series Champion, Connor Leoffler from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Gray finished in eighth place in the final NSCHoF rankings

Connor Leoffler, who was a three-time 2020 USCS feature winner, finished just a scant 41 points behind Gray in the title chase to finish in sixteenth place in the NSCHoF rankings out of thousands of drivers considered for the honors.
The young gun (Leoffler) only turned 16-years-old near the end of the season.

The 2020 USCS Mid-South Thunder Tour regional series Champion, Dale Howard from Byhalia, Mississippi also earned a place in the top ten of the NSCHoF final 360 driver of the Year poll in seventh place. In addition to his regional series title Howard was a six-time feature winner in the United Sprint Car Series during the Covid-19 shortened 2020 season.

The 2013 USCS National Champion, Derek Hagar who had three stops in the www.Rockauto.com USCS Victory Lane during the 2020 season, finished 2020 ranked in the sixth position in the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Driver of the Year standings.

The United Sprint Car Series kicks off its 66-race 25th annual 2021 USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters and its 4th annual USCS Winter Heat 12-race mini-series on Friday and Saturday, February 5th and 6th at Hendry County Motorsports Park in Clewiston, Florida.
