Hagar Targeting Third Straight Season with Win at Tennessee National Raceway

Hagar Targeting Third Straight Season with Win at Tennessee National Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (April 21, 2015) – Derek Hagar is seeking his third consecutive year with a USCS victory at Tennessee National Raceway this Saturday.

Hagar has visited Victory Lane during two of his three races at the third-mile oval in Hohenwald, Tenn., the past two seasons and he is itching to record his first triumph of this year.

“We haven’t raced much,” he said. “By this time last year we’d already won four. It’s kind of aggravating because when you get out there you’re driving over your head for that win. We haven’t raced as much this year as last year because of the weather and that’s got us out of rhythm. But it’s out of our hands. We can’t do anything unless Mother Nature lets us.”

Hagar has only been able to race six times this season, but he has top 10s during two of his last three events.

This Saturday’s race is also at a track that is conducive to Hagar’s driving style.

“The track starts off with a little bit of moisture and as the night goes on it gets real slick,” he said. “It has long straightaways and tight corners. You have to be patient. You have to finesse it a little bit. I think that’s played in our hands the last couple of years.”

Hagar was slated to compete with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour last Saturday in Missouri, but the event was cancelled because of the weather. It marked the eighth race on Hagar’s schedule that has been rained out so far this season.
