Inside Line Promotions – OCALA, Fla. (April 17, 2018) – Jordon Mallett is itching to garner his first feature victory of the season.

Mallett has been consistent, finishing in the top 10 in every race this season and in the top five during approximately half of the shows, en route to leading the USCS Series national championship standings.

That consistency continued last weekend during a doubleheader at Bubba Raceway Park. Mallett placed fourth in the dash before he powered from seventh to fifth place in a heat race on Friday. That lined him up on the outside of the seventh row for the A Main.

“When we got there they let us know they had just put new dirt on the track and hadn’t had a weekend to see what it was going to do because it rained out the previous weekend,” he said. “I felt like it struggled a bit with that. There wasn’t any passing. In the feature it was the same way without much racing at all. At the end I found a spot around the infield tires that I could get, but no one else could seem to keep their car low enough. We had a really good car at the end. The bottom just took too long to come in.”

Mallett made a strong run at the end of the race to close with a fifth-place finish.

Saturday started off much better as Mallett won both the dash and a heat race. He lined up on the outside of the second row for the A Main.

“We fell to 10th or 12th right off the bat,” he said. “We struggled. It was the same thing as the previous night. With about five or six laps to go the bottom came in good enough. We clawed all the way up to fifth. I could see the leaders again, but it was the same story on a different day. We just ran out of time.”

Mallett rebounded from the slow start to score a fifth-place result, which marked his fourth consecutive top five.

“A top five is always great, but I’m wanting to put one in the win column,” he said. “I can’t complain with a top five though. If we keep this up the wins will come.”

Mallett is scheduled to compete this Friday at Crossville Speedway in Crossville, Tenn., and Saturday at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tenn., with the USCS Series.
