Mallett Rolls to Seventh USCS Win of the Season

Mallett Rolls to Seventh USCS Win of the Season

Inside Line Promotions – GREENVILLE, Miss. (July 31, 2018) – Jordon Mallett had a perfect evening at Greenville Speedway last Saturday as he led flag to flag en route to winning his seventh USCS Series main event of the season.

The native of Greenbrier, Ark., also won the first heat race of the night after starting in the fourth position in that eight-lap contest.

“We worked hard throughout the week to put everything back together, like it should be, after the accident the weekend before,” he said. “The car was good from when we unloaded it until we loaded it back at the end of the night. We didn’t really have to do anything to the car at all.”

The entire 30-lap main event at the quarter-mile Greenville Speedway went non-stop without a single caution. Mallett started on the pole and led the entire distance, lapping several cars. The only hiccup on the night was a lingering brake problem that caused him to slow his pace a bit in the late going.

“Lots of times you can count on a caution to break things up,” he noted. “There were no instances of even anything close to a caution. There was one time we thought we may have one, but they gathered it back up and sure enough we went full caution-free.”

Mallett now has seven USCS wins this season as he chases his second straight title. Last year he won six races with the series. The 25-year-old has been victorious at seven different tracks in six states. He also has been among the top 10 in 29 of his 31 starts this season.

“It’s always in the back of my head,” he said of the number of wins. “It’s encouraging to know that what I am doing with my program is right. We are pretty far ahead of where we were at this time last year when it comes to wins. As an owner and driver that gives me encouragement that I have a pretty good package put together. Hopefully we can continue to expand on that.”

Mallett heads to All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Fla., this weekend for a two-night USCS event on Friday and Saturday. The pair of races will mark the series only visit of the season to the sprawling half-mile track.

“We’ll have a good car when we go down there,” he said. “Hopefully it will be the same scenario as this past weekend and we won’t have to touch the car too much. We’ll find the brake issue that we had last weekend at the shop this week and that shouldn’t be a problem in Florida. At a big track like All-Tech Raceway you have to have everything where you want it. All in all, it’s just another race track that’s in a circle to us so it’s no big deal. We approach them all the same anymore.”
