Inside Line Promotions – OCALA, Fla. (Sept. 25, 2018) – Jordon Mallett continued his ultra-consistent 2018 season last weekend during the Florida State Championship with the USCS Series at Bubba Raceway Park.

The native of Greenbrier, Ark., finished among the top five both nights as he chases his second straight series title.

Mallett kicked off the festivities by winning Friday evening’s dash after starting third in that six-lap contest. He then started third and ran fourth in heat race competition.

“We thought we made the right calls from the dash to the heat race, but we misread the track a little bit,” he said. “That put us a in a pretty big hole to start the feature.”

The main event found Mallett starting on the inside of the seventh row. He steadily worked his way forward at the 3/8-mile oval and wound up finishing third, which was his seventh straight podium finish in USCS competition. The main event ran 27 laps in honor of Greg Hodnett.

“The more green flag laps it went, the better we were getting,” he shared. “The problem was every four or five laps there was a caution. It kind of helped us out, but it also hurt us several times. We were still able to claw our way forward and gain 10 spots, so that was pretty respectable.”

On the final night at Bubba Raceway Park, Mallett finished third in the dash. He followed that up with a fourth-place showing in his heat race.

Mallett made another charge in the main event after starting in the ninth position. He worked his way up to fourth as the checkered flag flew on the 27-lap main event. Mallett was the highest finishing USCS regular and the highest finishing driver not from the state of Florida.

“It was actually the exact opposite on Saturday night where we had the green flag laps,” he said. “Early in the feature you kind of had to ride around as the track wasn’t as ‘good’ as I call it, like it was on Friday night. Toward the end of the race it got to where there were some options. We kind of wished there would have been a few cautions to break it a up a little bit and given some other areas of the track a chance to get rolled in and make it good. We were really trying to get up on the podium so we’ll write this one down in the notebook and move along to the next one.”

Mallett is currently weighing his options for this weekend with plans hinging on the weather.
