Mark Smith storms to USCS Bayou State Sprint Car Nats.win at Chatham Speedway

Chatham, LA - Saturday, March 7, 2020 - Mark Smith from Sunbury, Pennsylvania stormed to his sixth trip to the www.RockAuto.com USCS Victory Lane of the season by storming to victory in the 30-lap USCS Bayou State Sprint Car Nationals finale for the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters sprint cars at Chatham Speedway on Saturday night.

The win again wasn't easy for Smith who started sixth position in the field after aing a six in the K&N Filters Inversion Draw placing Koty Adams from nearby Haughton, Louisiana on the K&N Pole. He then had to battle his way to the front in the opening laps to duel with Koty Adams for the first 11 circuits before taking the lead and holding of former All Star Circuit of Champions titleist and World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year, Greg Wilson from Benton Ridge, Ohio amd Adams for the win.

Arlington, Texas' Channin Tankerley followed that trio in fourth place and three-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion, Tony Stewart from Columbus, Indiana rounded out the top five drivers.

The previous night's winner, Dale Howard led the rest of the field in sixth place followed by Sprint Car Hall of Fame member, Danny Smith from Chillicothe, Ohio in seventh place. Howard Moore from Memphis, Tennessee finished in eighth,followed by the defending USCS National Champion, Terry Gray in ninth place and 2018 USCS Rookie of the Year, Jake Knight from Georgetown, Mississippi rounded out the top ten of the talented 23 enty field.

Dale Howard kicked of the USCS sprint car action by winning the 6 car, 6-lap USCS Hoosier Speed Dash comprised of the top six drivers from Friday night's a-Main. Mark Smith won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Greg Wilson captured the victory in the Brown and Miller racing Solutions Second Heat and Danny Smith won the Butlerbuilt Third Heat Race. Jake Knight garnered the events's Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger Award for passing 7 cars in the main event after starting from the17th position and finishing 10th. As previously mentioned, Koty Admas was award the K&N Filters Pole Award.

The next USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters will be the USCS Winter Heat final two events and Rounds #8 and #9 during the 3rd annual USCS Shoals Shootout at North Alabama Speedway on Friday and Saturday, March 13th and 14t.
